Algeria: Tliba implicates the children of Gaid Salah for crimes of corruption

The former deputy and vice-president of the APN, Baha Eddine Tliba, currently in prison, has filed, through his lawyers, a request for denunciation to the Attorney General at the Court of Algiers against the sons of the late Chief of Staff of the ANP, Ahmed Gaïd Salah, reported this Sunday in the newspaper El Watan.

The persons cited in the request dated December 20, published by El Watan are the four sons of Ahmed Gaid Salah: Mourad, Boumediene, Hichem, Adel and their brother-in-law A. Abdelmalek.

In the document, Tliba presented himself as a parliamentarian and former vice-president of the APN, elected for the wilaya of Annaba. He said he had information on "facts that could constitute crimes of corruption. "A group of people have hijacked the wheels of the administration at the national level to serve their interests," he denounced.

"Even if he is in prison, our principal has put himself at the service of justice in the era of the new Algeria to denounce the embezzlement and wealth of dubious origin of a group composed of members of the same family. Given his status, he has irrefutable and verifiable evidence on the practices of this network that he intends to make available to justice," said Amrani Chemseddine, a member of the Tliba lawyers' collective, quoted by the same newspaper.

On December 6, Baha Eddine Tliba was sentenced on appeal to 7 years in prison by the Court of Algiers. He is being prosecuted in the case of the purchase of parliamentary seats involving the children of former FLN Secretary General Djamel Ould Abbes.
