Biden and Obama to campaign together for the first time Saturday
Former Democratic President Barack Obama will campaign Saturday for the first time in person alongside White House candidate Joe Biden in the disputed state of Michigan.
With three days to go before the presidential election, they will discuss the Democrat's plans to "bring Americans together to address the crises facing the country and win the battle for the soul of the nation," Biden's campaign team said in a statement Wednesday.
For the past week, Barack Obama has put his popularity at the service of his vice-president, with several meetings in "drive-in" format, where supporters come to listen to him in their cars, in the key states of Florida and Pennsylvania.
He attacked incumbent Republican President Donald Trump, who "lies every day" and has been "unable" to take his office "seriously". He called for the mobilization of the Democratic camp to avoid the surprise of 2016 when candidate Hillary Clinton, the winner in the polls, lost.
It was notably defeated in Michigan, a state that Barack Obama won hands down in 2008 and 2012.
This year, Joe Biden must reclaim Michigan, among other things, to get into the White House. The average of the polls established by the site RealClearPolitics gave him on Wednesday an advantage of more than eight points over Donald Trump in that state, and seven points at the national level.
