Ethiopia summons the US ambassador after Trump's comments
Ethiopian Foreign Minister has summoned the US ambassador to the country to obtain clarification on President Donald Trump's statements on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, in which he warned that failure to reach an agreement could result in military action.
"The incitement to war between Ethiopia and Egypt by an American president in office does not reflect the long-term partnership and strategic alliance between Ethiopia and the United States, nor is it acceptable in international law that governs relations between countries," said Ethiopian Foreign Minister Guido Andargachio, according to a statement.
The Ethiopian minister stressed that his country "will not stop and will continue to build its large projects."
The Ethiopian Foreign Ministry stated, in a statement, that the Renaissance Dam "is a gigantic project that will transform the people from poverty to wealth ... and that work on it will not stop."
