United States. 45 missing children, victims of human trafficking, rescued by the police

A major police operation resulted in the recovery of 45 missing children in the United States. A total of 177 people were arrested in the operation, which was aimed at dismantling human trafficking networks. Most of the children were involved in prostitution.

Police recovered 45 missing children from an anti-trafficking operation in Ohio, United States. Nearly fifty different police departments joined forces in the operation, which was dubbed "Autumn Hope," according to Newsweek, a U.S. media outlet.

A total of 109 victims of human trafficking have been rescued in recent weeks. Most of the rescued minors were prostitutes. They were taken care of by the rescue workers and redirected to social services.

177 arrests

The objective of this police intervention was not only to find these missing children and to fight against human trafficking, but also to arrest those "selling" sexual services to minors and their potential clients. A total of 177 people were arrested, 22 of whom had sought to obtain sexual services from minors.

460,000 missing children each year

Two other large-scale operations have taken place in recent weeks, one in Ohio and another, called "Not Forgotten", in Georgia. Since 2005, U.S. police have been able to locate 2,000 missing children. According to the Missing Children's Foundation, 460,000 children go missing each year in the United States, Slate said.
