According to the latest report of the German Society for Nutrition published in the newspaper "Handelsblatt" today, Tuesday, it has also not been proven so far a clear causal effect between the low level of vitamin "D" and the taking of the Corona virus in patients dangerous pathways, according to the results of studies so far.


The society's experts examined dozens of studies and monitoring processes from various countries, and it is true that there were many reports of positive effects of taking vitamin D on the course of Corona disease “Covid-19”, but the studies often had technical deficiencies, because for example they were not Test subjects' vitamins were known before they got sick in the first place, and the comparison groups were completely different or were already suffering from risk factors such as obesity or diabetes.


The German nutritionists concluded that "there is no evidence currently that can justify giving vitamin D supplements to people who have an adequate vitamin D level or with the aim of preventing infection with the Covid-19 virus or to reduce the severity of disease after infection."


The experts of the German Dietetic Association stressed the need to avoid taking an overdose of vitamin D, warning that this could lead to kidney stones, kidney calcifications, and cardiovascular disorders.
