The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series, the final of the North American League of Baseball (MLB), after thirty-two years of famine, at the expense of the Tampa Bay Rays, Tuesday, October 27 in Arlington, Texas. The Dodgers have won four wins to two. They notched their last decisive victory against the Rays 3-1.

They now have seven championship titles to their list, making them the sixth most successful team in history. Far ahead are the New York Yankees, with 27 titles, followed by the St. Louis Cardinals (11), Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics (9), as well as the San Francisco Giants (8).

43 wins against 17 defeats

This coronation, the first since 1988, rewards a team with exemplary consistency over the past four seasons, but which failed twice in the World Series, in 2017 and 2018, and in the national conference final last year.

During this unprecedented regular season, reduced to 60 games instead of the usual 162 due to the epidemic due to the coronavirus, the Dodgers ended with the best record of 43 wins against 17 losses. In play-off, the Californian club successively got rid of the Milwaukee Brewers (2-0), the San Diego Padres (3-0), the Atlanta Braves (4-3) and then Tampa Bay.

The Rays were looking for the first title in their history. This failure is their second at this stage, after that conceded in 2008 against the Philadelphia Phillies.
