Decathlon withdraws its commercials from the CNews channel
Decathlon France's favourite company takes a stand. The information was revealed by Sleeping Giants, a collective "fighting against the financing of hate speech. "On social networks, it was announced that Decathlon was withdrawing its ads from the CNews channel at the end of the year. The reasons put forward were "the deleterious orientation of CNews [which] can no longer be ignored" and "because more and more brands no longer want to finance the propagation of these speeches. »
A commitment confirmed by Decathlon this Friday evening. "Indeed, we have withdrawn our ads from CNews at the end of the year," the brand responded to a question from an Internet user wondering about the veracity of a possible boycott of the channel by the sports brand. However, the company did not specify whether its decision was motivated by the desire to fight against hatred on television.
CNews audience records in spades
This announcement comes less than two months after a call for a boycott following Eric Zemmour's comments on unaccompanied minors. At the end of September, the polemist had described them as "thieves", "murderers" and "rapists". As for the channel, it is doing better than ever in terms of ratings.
In the month of October, CNews signed its historical record since its name change in 2017, with 1.8% of PDAs. A score multiplied by 2.5 in just one year.
