Sarkozy-Bismuth: what is at stake in a historic trial for anti-corruption justice?

For the first time in French judicial history, a former president of the Republic will be tried, starting Monday, for acts of "corruption". He will be in the dock with his friend and personal lawyer, Thierry Herzog, and former high-ranking magistrate Gilbert Azibert.


The trial is scheduled to last three weeks and, even before it begins, it is already historic. For the first time in French judicial history, a former President of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, will be tried, starting this Monday, November 23, before the 32nd Correctional Chamber in Paris, for "corruption" in the "Bismuth" case.
