Senator Pat Toomey: Trump leaves a legacy of “chaos and misery”
Republican Senator Pat Tommy said that President Donald Trump risks reminding people that he created “chaos and misery” at the end of his term if he vetoed the $900 billion stimulus package passed by Congress and causes the government to close.
Bloomberg news agency reported today, Sunday, Tommy, from Pennsylvania, as saying in "Fox News Sunday" program that Trump administration helped negotiate the bill, and if the president believes that direct stimulus checks should be increased, he should approve the current suggestion and return to Congress for more help.
Tommy added that checks of $2000 per capita requested by Trump are too high for people who have not lost income as a result of the Corona virus (COVID-19), stressing the need for more targeted assistance.
“I understand that he wants to be remembered for demanding big checks, but the danger is that he will remind him (the people) of chaos, misery, and wrong behavior if the package is allowed to come to an end,” Tommy said. The best thing to do is sign this law and then demand subsequent legislation.”
Trump took no action on the stimulus bill approved by Congress last week, more than he expressed his dissatisfaction with a series of tweets and videos in the last few days.
