Four dead, including a child, in a shooting in California
United States: Four people, including a child, were killed in a shooting Wednesday evening, March 31. A man opened fire in an office building in the city of Orange, south of Los Angeles, according to police.
The shooting was reported around 5:30 p.m. local time on the floor of a small office building.
The Los Angeles Times reports that few details are known at this time about the victims and the killer's motives. He was shot during the police intervention and was evacuated to the hospital. Police said Wednesday night they did not know if the man was shot by police or self-inflicted.
Another woman was shot and evacuated in serious condition.
A spokeswoman for the city's police department said the area "is usually quiet," according to the Los Angeles Times. She said the killer opened fire inside the office building before heading to the courtyard.
This is the third mass shooting in two weeks in the U.S., following the Atlanta killing that left eight dead and the Boulder shooting that killed 10.
