Birth of an "extremely rare" white kangaroo in a zoo
A zoo in New York State was treated to quite a surprise. One of its kangaroos gave birth to a cub with a completely white coat.
Animal Adventure Park employees noticed its "extremely rare" color after its inspection.
"Red kangaroos are born about the size of your thumb, but continue to grow inside their mother's pouch. At the age of five months, we have our first inspection and medical examination," explained the zoo.
Normally, the baby would have had red hair, but research has shown that this is a case of leukism, a form of partial albinism.
His coat is white like an albino, but his eyes remained black.
According to the zoo, male animals are more likely to be born with this color than females.
