Mohamed Salah Calls Temple Visit 'Inspiring' as Liverpool Embraces Meditation for New Season 🧘
Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah has extended his thanks to the Reds' massive fanbase in Hong Kong and Japan, praising their incredible support during the team's pre-season tour. But it was a unique stop in Japan that captured the attention of fans and media worldwide, revealing a new approach to the team's mental preparation.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Mohamed Salah
wrote, "A great pre-season, a huge thank you to everyone in Hong Kong and
Japan. The visit to the Eko-in Temple was inspiring."
The appearance of the Egyptian superstar inside a Buddhist temple in
Tokyo sparked widespread conversation on social media after Liverpool's
official accounts published photos of the visit. Salah and his teammates
visited the historic Eko-in Temple as part of their preparations for the
2025-26 season.
More Than Just a Tourist Stop
England's Daily Mail newspaper revealed that the visit was more
than just a sightseeing trip. The coaching staff, led by new head coach Arne
Slot, had organized a team-wide meditation program inside the
temple. The goal was to provide the players with greater mental clarity and
focus ahead of the long and demanding season.
The Eko-in Temple, founded in 1657, is one of Tokyo's most
prominent religious and historical landmarks. It is famous for its deep
connection to Sumo wrestling and traditional Japanese culture, as well as its
gardens, which contain thousands of maple trees, making it an ideal destination
for meditation and tranquility.
